Hi Ali Raza, for established scientists it is a duty to serve as reviewers for peer-reviewed international journals. This ensures that the reviewing system works and that the publication process is fair and rapid.

However, I strongly suggest to completely STAY AWAY from predatory journals, both as author and reviewer! Don't waste any time with this, as it is definitively bad for your scientific career. No matter if only 1 or 400 reviews for predatory journals, they are all counterproductive and bad for the career. In my opinion, such records at Publon simply don't count.

If you want to engage in peer-review, wait until good journals approch you and ask for reviews.

Ali Raza and Asemoloye Micheal Dare: Predatory journal are often quite aggressive and send out spam mails every day. They ask you to submit manuscripts, review papers, or become co-editor of the journal. Moreover, they tell you that they liked your paper entitled "......." and invite you to fake conferences. The only way to deal with this is to press the DELETE button. Take care! 👍

Strongly agree with you. Thank you for your valuable comments. I think Publons should stop verifying reviews of predatory journals, as it is a part of Web of Science.

Publons should be proactive to stop the process of verification.

Daily ,I receive requests to submit or to review manuscripts of such journals.. I avoid working with them .

I review for reputable journals. The review process takes between one month and three months.

The process of scientific publishing and journalism is changing exponentially.

Clarivate Analytics as owner of Publons cannot be classified as predatory.

In any case, everything that has to do with predatory publishing is about 'payments'. I stongly support open access models of publishing, and we will see much more of that in the future.

I have reviewed one article though Pueblons which I am not sure deals with predatory journals. I have reviewed many which have been sent to me directly from reputed journals for review.

From my previous experience, I have made many reviews in conferences and journals, some of these reviews in predatory journals and others in Scoups or clarivate journals.

In my view, there is no relationship to be a reviewer in this journal or that, but the very important thing is, to be honest in our scientific reviews.

By the way, the publons website sometimes takes into account the review even predatory journals, and sometimes I have reviewed chapters in good books(Like in Springer) but the poublons site has not taken in account these reviews, and on the pretext that it does not take such kind of reviews into account.

I created an account a Publons several years ago when a colleague at different school said they were using it for accreditation and promotion purposes. Publons just seems like an additional layer of activity that is competing for my scarce time. If and when, it becomes sufficiently relevant, perhaps then I will take it more seriously.

Publons is really an excellent platform innitiated as a part of Web of Science, ORCiD, and integrations with thousands of journals.

Publons is the only profile where we can track our peer reviews and editorial work in one place. It’s quick and easy to maintain, can be used as evidence of our research outputs, and provides valuable insights into our publication and review history. Interestingly, Publons profile is easy to maintain because it’s largely automated, we just need to forward a acknowledgement email to Publons.

For me ,it is no positive response for hackers and predatory journal.Today ,one ISI paper for me has been appeared .

Hackers and predatory journals are with many errors and scientific mistakes.

It is not wise to publish in these false journals .

Articles which are published in predatory journals are not exposed to any reviewing .
