There are already few Facebook groups existing where total members are in excess of 3,00,000 which is not possible in Whatsapp. You may try a group in Telegram app where 75,000 members can be added.
Researchgate is a good medium to exchange ideas and sharing publication and getting citation. Whatapp group will not produce citation and publicity compared to Researchgate.

That is a very good idea which is much better than writing a research work by just a single author.
