One of my teachers Dr. M. Manjurul Alam took photo of a rare orange colored fish looks like Channa sp. This fish was caught in Bangladeshi water. What do you think about the strange color? Albinism or is it a new species?
Can you please provide other physical/biological characteristics on this organism? Fish can morph in color due to stress, predation and other environmental factors.
Dear Nancy Arias: Thank you very much for your answer. I know about the website and infact I've collected this photo from there, but they are still struggling to identify this species. Many experts opined that this probably due to albinism/ rare expression of recessive allele others said that this could be a new species. However, none of the hypothesis were proved. I bring this photo to this forum to make a discussion on this species and probably this variety is available in other country...Let's see what we can find out. However, I was also involved in the process of identification of this species. But we are struggling because the specimen was released in the water body after taking few photographs.
