Under 400x magnification using a child’s light microscope (TK2 Scope), I observed a wet yogurt slide With blue stain.
These circular and various particles floating. Are these live bacteria OR milk fat globules? I am trying to verify if Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt (supposed to be fat free) contains live probiotics. Yogurt was mixed with water and a drop was placed onto a microscope slide with cover slip.
But hard to distinguish with the limited magnification of the TK2 Scope. These circular floating particles also seemed perfectly round/sphere. Which led me to believe they are milk fat globules? But according to the label, the Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt is fat free.. which is supposed to remove the fat globules right? Trying to find rod-shape bacteria was unsuccessful which makes it hard to verify if there are live bacteria or not in these yogurt. But In the final video (4556.mov)I think I found some Streptococcus thermophilus. The shapes are spherical and appeared in pairs and some even connected to form a chain. Please review all of the videos.
Could you take a look and let me know your thoughts? If you find/verify bacteria, could you take a screen shot and labeled it?
