In most areas especially in Africa Urban forestry is a  new concept with had not been totally embraced. The use market based tool or approaches or economic incentive to ensure it conservation may be something for the future. we did a work on awareness and perception of urban forestry in sahel ecological zone of Nigeria where desertification is seriously exacerbating. the results reveal very low private participation and poor funding as a serious barrier.
