What would be the difference between the modeling of damaged beams that uses 3-D cracked finite elements with the 1/4 internodes displaced towards the front of the crack, instead of using finite elements where the front of the crack is modeled simply using a sharp geometric wedge? that is, do not move the internode to simulate the crack?

With respect to natural modes, what would be the cost of this lack of precision?
