Hi,
I am conducting a RNA-seq project on micro-algae cultures. As my samples both contain algae and bacteria, I would need to remove both bacterial and eukaryotic rRNA. Though, Illumina does not commercialize the bacteria RiboZero kit anymore (I am still wondering why...). Does some of you already experienced successful bacterial rRNA depletion using another kits ?

Thanks a lot Mathew ! It is really good to know that NEB is also part of the race. A colleague told me that QIAGEN is working on a very easy-to-use version as well which would be also customisable to a wide range of organisms. Let's hope these new ones coming will make us forget about the good results we had with RiboZero...

riboPOOLs by Munich-based siTOOLs Biotech was reported to work well to deplete rRNAs from various species. There is also a Pan-Prokaryote riboPOOL for universal microbe depletion (https://www.sitoolsbiotech.com/pdf/PanProriboPOOL_190516.pdf).

Many thanks for your replies. We are currently assessing the efficiency of rRNA depletion unsing the RiboPool Pan Prokaryote on our RNA, finger crossed !

Excuse me, I missed your earlier post. But just an update, with RiboMinus, the overall yield was good with traces of rRNA. The quantity and quality of rRNA depleted RNA was no issue for the sequencing.
I guess, as the kits says to have 95% efficiency, it was the same (more or less) in my case.
Please update your yields with RiboPool, might be helpful for next time.

May I ask, did you sequenced your RNA samples?
If so, what was the efficiency of rRNA depletion using the RiboPool Pan Prokaryote on your RNA?
