I want to know if there are certain works or applications for metal foams as thermoelectric applications to generate electricity from heat. Do nano size metal foams represent good candidates for that?
to the best of my knowledge so there are some companies in both Japan (Shinko wire company), Hydro Aluminium in Norway and AZO materials in the states that makes metal foams utilizing aluminium, titanium and tantalum. As you may know that foam materials have very high porosity and low thermal conductivity which in turns makes them unattractive for the applications you are interested in. However, good for industrial purposes i.e. filtering, damping, weight saving and others. I guess you are right in assuming that not much work has been done on this yet.
Never the less, a paper enclosed titled "Composite and Nanocomposite Metal Foams" Published: 28 January 2016 may well help as I noticed some attempted work in the references of this paper that may well be related to your field of interest.
