I would like to study and work on an algorithm that can be used for Driver Gaze Tracking and Eyes Off the Road Detection and has superior results. Are there any suggestions to start with??
Check out:: Quantifying saccades while walking: Validity of a novel velocity-based algorithm for mobile eye tracking by Stuart et al, IEEE EMBS 2014. Though it was used for walking the methodology/system etc could be applied for gaze during driving.
recently there was an article in BRM about event detectors (see below). Although none of the tested algorithms deals with VOR (which is likely to be present in your data), Larsson's algorithm at least addresses SPEM - which is a start... The bottom line of the Andersson paper is, that there is not "the best" algorithm. Under different conditions different method perform best and thus it is most likely that you have to adapt one of the algorithm to your needs (e.g. composition of recorded eye movement events) and the events of interest (e.g. are you only interested in detecting saccades or all kinds of events).
Best regards, David

Hello. The IEEE Xplore search engine is usually the best place to start. You can run a keyword search. There would be a lot of papers on this topic, I believe. The field of pose estimation (from recognised facial features) and gaze point estimation is quite mature. I can say this because there are companies currently offering products that offer video-based systems for driver fatigue detection.
