My current research is focused on medieval timber roof structures in the eastern Mediterranean. Recently I found some references which imply the relation of timber roof construction with the shipbuilding techniques, developed mostly in Venice during the 14th to the 16th century.
I don't know whether this is of use since it is not really my field.
I have just returned from SELRC 2016 conference where the well known dendrochronologist and nautical archaeologist Nigel Nayling
was presenting a paper on ship building technology in western Europe in his section on the 15th century Newport ship he happened to mention a link between carpentry on buildings and ship building in Spain. Unfortunately I had to leave early and couldn't question him further on this. I know this is the western Mediterranean but it might be worth contacting him to see if he has any information that might be relevant to your study.
Christopher Rose, at Fordham University, is someone else who might have useful references for you, as he's studying travel through the Mediterranean, with a focus on Cyprus, I believe, so his sources are likely to mention such things.
