really you find a lot of if you just google " CdS surface emission" or any other material you are interested in.
Christian, I meant actually di-electric crystals, like rare earth doped laser crystals- Nd:YAG and so on. They should be different from surface emission shown from a quantum dot of CdSe, I guess ?

well you should have made that clear from the start ;), or did I miss something?Anyways, in this field I have very limited knowledge. Still I guess one can assume that even for rare-earth nanoparticles defects scatter phonons. Therefore it probably does matter! Good Luck!
