I am doing a bibliometric analysis of nursing ethics with the central question
Where does the nursing ethics coming from?
and some sub questions like
Is it medicine, nursing, ethics,..)? Which ideas were borrowed and when? Which ideas are original?
Dear Peter, I would recommend to do a literature search in the archives of specific journals, for example: SAGE Journal 'Nursing Ethics' or Taylor & Francis Journal 'Ethics and Social Welfare'. Following two good review articles I know in this topic:
- Olsen D.P. (1992). Controversies in nursing ethics: a historical review. Journal of Advanced Nursing 17(9):1020-1027.
- Woods M. (2011). An Ethic of Care in Nursing: Past, Present and Future Considerations. Ethics and Social Welfare 5(3): 266-276.
Dear Peter; You can search in WOS with your key and go back to the first papers. then search about topics, disciplines and authors of them. In this challenge mapping of literature can be very useful.
Dear Abdalsamad, could you please explain what 'WOS' is (a database, a journal)? I'm not familiar with this abbreviation.
I will refer you to a wonderful ethics text- Ethics & Issues in Contemporary Nursing, 4th edition (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2014). The first (and part of the 2nd) chapters discuss just what you are asking. There are numerous references, most are books, but some papers. This may not be what you are looking for, but I hope it is helpful. I wish you the best in your search.

Web of Science is the platform of search in a number of citation indices and other databases. It is used as the base resource in many Bibliometrics study. In informal term some times is told ISI.
