DSC surely can record your heat evolution. It's a very sensitive techniques were you need just a few milligram of your sample. Everything will depends on the accuracy and precision you would like to obtain for your analysis. Did you try to find any standard for your analysis procedure ?

Thanks Breidi Albach for your answer and time for responding. I have the same feeling, with only the sample size (mg) as the negative aspect when using DSC.

Thanks Giorgio Luciano for your time for answering this question. I need to detect differences between different formulations, so I think I will be able to determine this differences with the DSC, even though that the sample required is really small.

I haven't found any standard specific for DSC for measuring cement paste heat flow during hydration, and I agree this would be very helpful in this case. But not even papers directly using DSC for OPC heat were found.
