Are resource-based views of the firm by Barnie and core competence by C. K. Prahlad the same or substantially different?

To me they appear quite similar except that Barnie has laid down four conditions of a resource being labeled strategic, and perhaps Prahlad has left that issue open.

To my knowledge, the RBV suggest that a competitive advantage can be achieved using a unique combination of strategic resources. Such unique combinations may constitute a core competency.
