I am breaking up my question into parts hoping to make them easy to understand.

1. I have a fixed particle in a microfluidic device. Under the influence of fluid flow, what are all the forces this particle would experience?

2. Let us assume this particle is a hydrogel then it undergoes deformation based on its young's modulus and velocity of the fluid. How do I compute the forces acting on this particle in COMSOL?

3. In COMSOL, does sum of integration of pressure(p) and shear stress along the boundaries of the particle account for the net force acting on it? Should I be evaluating for principle stress(solid.sp1) or shear stress(solid.stt)?

I am interested in quantitatively evaluating how long the particle would take travel a certain distance, along the flow, if it is not fixed. Idea is to evaluate the net forces acting on the particle to identify its velocity and determine time taken to travel a certain distance.

Any input is highly appreciated.
