News channels are supposed to give news, mirror image of society and are supposed to be serious. But increasing number of reenactment crime based shows and even horror shows are making these news channels seem like a circus channel.
right henna,Media reached at height of irresponsibility and sensationalism due to mad race of TRP,television rating points, and airing sensational dramatization visuals and content without knowing the ethics of reenactment.this is serious crime against society, such people should be accountable. They are simply misusing word melo drama, dramatization and even reenactment.
A puppet organization PEMRA can,t do any thing,God help us
So true, Henna and Javed Saab. If the objective of such content is to stop people from adopting such behaviour than I cannot understand they expect to succeed. In a recent such re-enactment show they were showing a group of criminals on a night out. There was an actual five minute song and dance routine supposedly with women of questionable repute. The show was worthy of being categorized as a dance show and not as a re-enactment.
Agreed Javed sb, Henna and Qurat. I think re-enactments produces violent behaviour among different groups of society. And this is very common that people usually attract towards negative attitudes.
I think re-enactment shows are quite entertaining... full of bad performances , with damn disastrous background music, inciting dialogues, and filled with full knowledge of committing the crime. :P
Well, taking it positively, it means that crimes and horrors are still extraordinary and as such are interesting for wide public.
Try to imagine the world where crimes and violence is normal and breaking news will be something like: "On his way home Mr. Smith was neither killed nor robbed!"
As far as Pakistani Media is concerned in this regard i feel that because of an increase in the number of channels and commercialization our Media owners/professionals are compromising on quality and showing whatever can gain the attention without considering the impacts. The phenomenon henna is talking about is one of the examples.
I have personally interviewed men from the less privileged class and they agree that such program give them cheap entertainment and also thrill of crimes.
