Delayed action on climate change means that annual emissions reduction targets are now significantly harder to achieve i.e. in 2000 a 4% reduction per year; in 2019 an 18% reduction per year.
Kudos, thank you for your innovative contribution but this group of countries mentioned have failed to ease the situation as the want the nature to wipenout the generation by not contributing larger quota to rescue the global economy. Rather they are playing politic with our life.
Yes, indeed. The challenge is to trigger collective action over a huge and diverse human population which does not share values and norms across the spectrum required. Nobelist Elinor Orstom demonstrated that such norms existed in many societies contrary to Hardin's predicament of the "Tragedy of the commons" that postulates that short-term egoism carries the day over long-term common goods.
A successful example of achieving constructive collective action in recent times on an (almost) global scale is the Montreal Protocol signed in 1987. The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (a protocol to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer) is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production of numerous substances that are responsible for ozone depletion.
AAAS just published a Policy Forum on 14 DECEMBER 2018 • Science VOL 362 ISSUE 6420 dedicated to these highly relevant questions for the challenges for humanity, primarily in relation to the climate, but also other issues. The new governance mode by objectives set out by the UN in relation to the interconnected Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030 may well be one of the effective mechanisms necessary to get us there. Scaling up simulation games that visualise e.g.(otherwise invisible) groundwater depletion from individual over-abstraction at the expense of collective more longer-term sustainability and large-scale marine protected areas enforced as insurance against advanced overexploitation of the ocean's renewable resources could be valuable additions to the tool box we need to take to the next step to become more successful in living sustainably within our planetary boundaries.
UNFORTUNATELY, the most polutant and the most wealthy countries ,such as US , that they emit the most CO2 into the athmospher(14% from total) , left the Paris UNFCCC. What can we do? or what is duty of others?

The case of impacts of climate change tests the collaborative edge for humanity to survive. We inevitably have to develop various capitals (i.e. natural, physical, financial, social and human) to succeed against climate change. Short of these asserts, humanity will continue facing more climate-induced disasters...
Dear Dr. Olatunji, there is an increasing air pollution every day (dirty cars and dirty air), so I expect more pains from the nature. Battery electric cars emit less greenhouse gases and air pollutants. However, this technology is still very expensive for African countries.
Well the search continues but commitment by all countries is lacking. Many of the countries thst pretend to show commitment are all playing games with the quality of life of both the present and future generations. Aware of the fact that many of the concern stakeholders can ptovide solution by spending billions of dollars but we not dur to lack of benefits from the money that could spend to save the world. The reality check clearly shows that there seems to be competition to force cooperation as many of the developing economy who disagree are been sent acidic rain to kill their generations if the failed to cooperate. Whag a painful world. Both scientists and climate expert are no longer truthful about the whole situation. Just like all the forum for negotiating workd liquidity crises failed. The issues surrounding climate change remains a puzzle. One again the debate continues and contributions are welcome.
