Are Direct Electrical heating systems designed based on the priciple of Impedance heating?
I am writing my MSc dissertation on DEH of Subsea pipelines and I think the underlying principle there might be impedance heating where heat is generated due to I2R loses. (but I am not too sure if this is correct or if there are other underlying principles).
And finally, if it is based on impedance heating, how can it be related to temparature generation in a pipeline.

There are different methods of electric heating like eddy current heating, induction heating, resistance/impedance heating etc. However, Heat generated in pipeline follows the principle of impedance heating where, cable worked forward conductor and the pipe or seawater are used as return conductor.
