No morality without immortality, to cite F.Dostoievski.
The social evolution of our human systems of logical reasoning and ethical morality is bound to lower survivalist strategies, due to our triune brain structure (reptil, limbic, neocortex).
In this sense, a lineage of prophecy and prophets was needed to elevate the lower essences to a higher level of universal spiritual cognition.
One does not exclude the other. Moral understanding and behavior is a function of intelligence that human intelligence is significantly higher than that of the most highly developed animals is known, its basis is the human genetic outfit, is bound to language, in human behavior. The evolutionary development of moral behavior within groups with social interaction has to do with the forms of coexistence, it sets selfish behavior that protects one's own existence or the species. For a while there was a discussion about altruistic behaviour in animals. More accurate analyses have shown, however, that such observations are reversible to behavior that exists in the service of self-preservation and fitness advantage. This also applies to the so-called "reciprocal altruism".
the almighty God endowed us with the power to choose good and bad. we have the capacity and the power to follow moral or immoral ethics; it is up to us to know the best and choose it. context can play a pivotal role in nurturing the ethics
The predisposition for both positive and negative ethics is present in our genetic make up. Both have played a profound role during our evolution and continue to do so. On the one hand our altruism towards fellow human beings who are similar to ourselves have helped us in our survival by allowing us to form groups or tribes. The negative ethical behaviors also helped us in our survival by allowing our group/tribe to resist other tribes/groups for the limited resources. This reflected in our religions also, though in this case the physical appearance is of lesser importance than the beliefs of a particular religion. We can try to use science, logic, reason, being areligious, non-religious and so forth to bind the entire mankind into one group. But, all such "humanistic faiths" are bound to fail due to our genetic make up and the limited resources present on the planet we happened to evolve and inhabit. thanks.
The social environment is an important factor in the moral formation of individuals. The rules are learned in society. Now, the reflection on these rules, falls in the field of ethics, possibly under these conditions can be considered if some standards are natural or inherent to the human being. I am of the idea that ethical studies should be better used to strengthen our own social relations and how they can influence the improvement of the moral standards of the population. It is a matter of more efficient educational and communication policies. Now more with the technological advantages
Indeed, without social relation no moral is possible. This is the difference to religion. In religous view human behavior is part of the individual relationship "human - God". This implies to obey God's commandments, which are central moral principles.
You can not rule out genetic effects, but the environment of a growing child and the formal and social education obtained by him or her is very much important in development of actual moral sense.
The teen age or a few years beyond the teen age is the period for creation of strong base of morality, I suppose.
There is a natural law, an innate predisposition towards good or evil, even the biological response to certain stimuli objectively show us the behavior of the human being. However, this predisposition is shaped by the family, its teachings, its traditions. The same society determines that behavior is desirable and which is not.
Dear Jose Luis Da Silva.... I found this sentence "the idea that ethical studies should be better used to strengthen our own social relations"more effective to develop social relations of ethical values.
