During acicular ferrite and bainite formation carbon diffuses during paraequilibrium nucleation but there is no diffusion during growth. Widmanstätten ferrite is know as paramilitary displacive transformation according with Bhadeshia. In contrast, I never found the term paramiltary used for acicular ferrite and bainite.

Could I consider acicular ferrite and bainite as a paramilitary transformation only if atoms of carbon diffuse during growth?? Many thanks.
