Hi there,

in my group we are regularly coating glass slides with APTES.

For this we are putting them (after plasma activation) into a slideholder containing a solution of 94% acetone, 5% H2O and 1% APTES.

Nobody really could explain me why we are using H2O in the solution (it is an old protocol). And I am really wondering because as far as I know water is the worst solvent for APTES and heavily supports condensation.

Should the coating not work better if we used 99% acetone and 1% APTES without any water?

Thanks in advance.
