Just learning Matlab and know a little Python. I have some borehole curves, trace element data in ppm and I want to estimate the volume of of the element over a depth interval using numerical integration. I figured there must be some code already existing to accomplish this? Looking for research papers or code to get started.

If you have a set of discrete borehole data, you can use the trapz command to compute the approximate integral of curve. The integral command only accepts function handles as inputs, so those functions cannot be used with discrete data sets.
