I am proof reading the following paper, in which I used an image showing the evolution of Amsterdam from the 16th to 18th century (see below).

I took the image from Christopher Alexander's The Nature of Order - the second volume. I have been seeking his permission, but have not got any reply yet. I just realized that the image may not be his, and instead he cited from other sources. However, in the book (page 99) there was no clear source was given

However, I need a book source for the citation. Does anyone there know such a book?

Alternatively, I could use another historic city with the similar organic evolution.
