I need to find a picture of a neuron firing, black and white, to use in my upcoming book, Acting, Archetype, and Neuroscience. I have no budget for such a thing. Can anyone point me to a free illustration? The neuron in question is a motor neuron and I have no capability of doing color. It need not have any labelling on it.

I work with motor neurons and have plenty of motor neuron firing data and I can send you an illiustration that is not published, as you will need publishers permission to print already published material. I can send you an unpublished image that way no dramas:-)
What is your preferred format? pdf? tiff? powerpoint? Also if you can send me your private e-mail address, so I can send you a beautiful firing trace in black and white. Would you like spontaneous firing or evoked, and how many action potentials would you like? Usually 1 second trace will give you around 5 action potentials at low depolarization level. For an example, see my paper listed below.

Again thank you for your volunteering! Finally found out what the publishers need. A tiff file would be great above 500 dpi. Black and white is perfect. Love a beautiful firing trace. I am not sure about spontaneous or evoked, possible to send both? I am including this in my book so that actors, directors, and other non-scientists can see what a neuron actually looks like.
