Recently started using Mendeley:
My colleague set up a folder via desktop app (1.19.3 for Win) of mainly journal articles. We first realized that a fair few references were lacking page numbers and some other data. We then used function "update details" for all of the references. This seems to import some page details, but at tge same time it leads to several of the articles now being incorrectly annotated: the order of the authors is suddenly comletely jumbled (with last author becoming first, etc)
Anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug or something we're doing wrong?

It is not clear from the question whether the changes are happening in the in-text citation or the bibliography. One expects that Mendeley should update without issues with each updates in the entries. In any case, here are a couple of things you can try.

Ah, yes, perhaps I was unclear. The errors are in the stored reference itself, in the desktop app. I am able to correct the order of authors by clicking "look up" for the DOI (or like you did, the PMID). But if I use "update details" again, the reference again changes back to the incorrect version.
It just seems like such a consistent error (in several of the references) that I would suspect a bug. But perhaps it's just that the program is poor at importing the data in the first place. I never had these problems with Zotero for example .
I have exactly the same problem. "look up" extracts the correct author order, but "update details" scrambles the author list, apparently at random. Very irritating!
