Any work done of removal of low levels of PFOS from drinking water using RO membranes?
All the 5 papers i found were testing high levels - not typical - I am looking to see the efficiency of RO membranes in removing < 0.1 ug/L PFOS and other PFAS
If after RO, suspected water taste is still not good, not clear ,unpleasantness odour indicate Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in water. Because these substances are very much objectionable in drinking water. This subject require more study .
Ali, The watershed I get my water from is contaminated with long chain, medium chain and short chain PFA compounds from an airport close by. Our solution is to use granulated activated carbon filters followed by an ion exchange filter. The goal is to remove the all PFA's compounds to below 70 ppt. This level will be lowered to below at least 20 ppt of all PFAs combined once New York State legislature acts this summer. I don't think RO is as cost effective as GAC followed by an ion exchange filter.
