Laboratory testing is nearly always good and close to 100% mortality. Field pilot testing on short oil palm trees (3 to 4 years old < 4m) to eradicate indigenous bagworms defoliators (Metisa plana, Pteroma pendula...) is also good with 70-80% lethal effect and above. The problem arise with taller palm trees (above 5 years old, >4m) providing only 25-30% mortality to the pest larvae. What could be done to resolve that issue? Spraying is done from the ground. Aerial spraying of Bacillus thuringiensis was shown to be very effective with complete mortality achieved.
