Is Siemens "LOGO!" automation a good tool to implement in a test stand? Does anybody have any information or experience with Siemens "LOGO!" automation and programming?
Siemens LOGO is the smallest PLC in the Siemens Product Line. With extension modules you can control 16 digital outputs, however, it is possible to cascade several LOGOs. I like the LOGO very much for small applications, e.g. home automation in which I use it for several years now. The current generation provides ethernet communication so you can also attach a graphical IO terminal. LOGO is available in 24V and 230V (whereas the digital inputs also support 230 V AC). The programming language is of LOGO is function block diagrams according to the standard IEC 61131-3 and very easy to understand. Thus, LOGO is a cheap and reasonable control also for training and learning. It is very feasible for small test stands. However, you cannot do accurate measurement with it (as e.g. with LabView). On the other hand, it is very easy to implement a reliable and independend control (even e.g. with backup batteries) while the actual measurement is done with other software.
LOGO is a simple PLC from Siemens. It is cheap ,it can be programmed very easily and there are expansion module used for adding more input/outputs.It can be used for basic and few advance operations of PLC program.
Dr Gerro , I want to make a tracking controller for CPV system using PLC s7-1200 but iam afraid that i can't program it using SCL. DId you actually program this plc for tracking ? could i use any other plc type for this task such as fatek plc?
