I will be linking the flow dynamics at a nature-like fishway on a coastal river system to fish behavior and passage during anadromous migrations. Migration pathways in relation to flow, specific habitat, depths, etc. that could influence a fish's ability to traverse the fishway. Specifically evaluating striped bass and american shad.

Sounds like an interesting study! We're working with Charles on an analysis of brown trout movements in relation to high flow experiments, and addressing a couple other hypotheses relating to stimulation of movements. We're using a multi-state mark-recapture model to predict the probability of brown trout movements (transitions across river mile segments) and testing the effect of binary covariates (whether an HFE occurred, or the weir was installed). I think I've run across literature recently that looked pretty informative. I'll let you know if I can find it - I don't know if this helps you or not.

Although I was never directly involved there is a whole lot of salmonid-based research on flow and fish passage in the Pacific Northwest. The Fraser Panel of the Pacific Salmon Commission, which is the next iteration of the IPSFC, should have all of the information they developed on fish passage to get sockeye up past migration pinch points. The Washington Department of Fisha nd Wildlife (Habitat Program) should have a lot of work that would also include culverts. I know they funded studies on some artificial streams. The US Army, Corps of Engineers should have information on passage past dams and may include recent concerns about sturgeon, lamprey, and shad; who behave differently from salmonids.
