I want to compare areas of cerebral infarctions in brain MRI statistically between patients with epileptic seizure and without. These areas are surrounded manually like Image J software. Does anyone know such a good software working in Mac? It is better if it can analyze detailed brain structures from such surrounded areas. And it is the best to analyze the connections from other brain areas.

I would recommend you ITK-snap. This is a free-software to conduct 3D segmentation, but it also works with 2D MRIs. It includes semi-authomatic and manual tools of segmentation. However, after surround the lesion, the program gives you the volume in mm3.

Another option is MRIcro. Perhaps is more intuitive. This is a very friendly and exhaustive MRI free software. The following links are the web and the tutorial:

Perhaps I prefer ITK snap, but this is just an opinion. However, I'm not really sure how to implement connections analyses with these softwares (and neither with image J). I think it depends on your MRI technique.
