Given the scale and complicity of smart grid network, it is very hard to model the whole system in an accurate model. Instead, simulation may be an effective and efficient way to study and evaluate various scenarios and technologies. I wonder if such smart grid simulation software or tools exist and have widely been used.

There are a lot of software/simulation tools in there. But, every software have a specific purpose. For example, ATP Software is good to study transient phenomena in some location and MATLAB is good to look phenomena in the whole system.

SIMULINK is good though, would say ETAP is good even though we can design DC Microgrid, for economic and sizing analysis Homer pro is good
Another option is PowerCyber, so you have more options, but I don't know if it can be used for simulating the high-frequency signal injection.
