any body knows a relation between RSSI and CM?
Basically, RSSI is used for distance estimation between the RFID tag and RFID reader antenna. but recently RSSI has been used for other findings as well as issues with surroundings.
Any body has a knowledge of further applications of RSSI with condition monitoring or structural health monitoring?

The RSSI is the received signal strength indicator which gives the received signal power level measured in units of dBm = 10 log Pr/1mw , with Pr the received signal power and the reference power is one milliwatt.
There is also the CSI the channel state information which give the transmission coefficient of the channel h(t) of H(f). It is also called the channel gain which is a complex value having magnitude and phase. The transmission characteristics of the channel is determined by the sending a training or pilot signal and observing the the received signal. By knowing the transmitted signal and the received signal on can get the transfer ratio h od H.
All modern communications systems have the ability to periodically determine their channel state information and therefore can equalize the signal to get the required signal to noise ratio and consequently the bit error rate.

RSSI could be one of the factors that get affected in certain conditions. But you can check the appropriate parameter used for a particular application. For example, if you take the case of heat exchangers or boilers in massive factories or nuclear power plant stations, monitoring the temperature of these boilers will be of paramount importance. Also, keeping track of gaseous concentrations inside them would help. This would help you decide whether a particular gas is exceeding it's threshold or not.
In places such as analyzing the longevity of a bridge or tower or any building, monitoring the pressure would be a critical component. I would say that temperature too plays an important role in structural health monitoring as high temperature environments could cause cracks in the structures. But at the end, you can always relate these primary parameters to RSSI and track the temperature, pressure, humidity, radiation, and many more in various applications. In general, present day communication systems cannot detect any signal that is less than -90 dBm or -100 dBm (Usually a -80 to -90 dBm is the sensitivity threshold). Hope this clarifies.
