I am investigating the presence of metal ions (Cr, Ni, Cu, Fe, and Mo) in an alkaline electrolyte (pH>11)and would like to use UV-Vis spectrophotometry for their detection and quantification.

Could anyone recommend:

  • Suitable complexing agents or chromogenic reagents for metal( Cr, Ni, Cu, Fe, and Mo) that work well in alkaline pH?
  • Wavelengths or absorption maxima for these metal complexes?
  • Any sample preparation or pH adjustment steps needed to improve sensitivity or selectivity?
  • Known interferences or matrix effects in alkaline solutions?

If you have experience with single or multi-element detection using UV-Vis in similar systems, I’d greatly appreciate your insights or references to relevant protocols or literature.
