We are very interested in the project. We have developed a Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) which will be sensitive only to solid particles (as opposed to semi-volatile material). Not only is such an instrument highly desirable for aerosol research, especially that related to emissions from combustion processes, but new EU regulations for road vehicles
actually requires this characteristic (the so-called PMP protocol). The primary feature about our prototype is we can directly measure the PN from the hot gas like exhaust without the need of VPR or cooling. We are currently working on another prototype to classify the particle size from hot gas. With both instruments, we can derive the size distribution of hot gas.
I was wondering if we could join this project and perhaps demonstrate our hot CPC as a component of the PEMS?

It is a very interesting instrument - CPC. What is the exact particle size range this CPC can work? How much is the weight of this instrument? How do you calibrate? Any reference would help me understand better and think about applications in my research.

We have submitted a manuscript to Journal of Aerosol Science and still under
review. Our CPC can take high temperature sample directly. We are also applying for a patent and that's why the publication comes late. I will let you know if the publication comes out.
Basically, the size range is 10 - 1000 nm, the weight is roughly 5 - 10 kg. We used TSI CPC 3775 and TSI electrometer to calibrate our CPC.

I have not talkd about our CPC with wide temperature operation range to anyone at TSI. We have submitted a PCT patent and still await for the approval, thus no much publication yet and there is a paper attached for your reference.
