In plant pathology experiments, some times multiple diseases can occur on a single plot even on a single plant at the same time and growth stage of the crop. Finally it becomes difficult to calculate the yield loss caused by each diseases type and it is also difficult to know the major one.
It's really a complex question, but is it really necessary? Trying to answer, from the perspective of what leads to loss of production, we can think of two immediate ways: a) loss of leaf area and b) direct loss of product. If leaf area loss is taken into account, it is reasonably easy to calculate the impact of each disease of yield loss, provided that the relationship in that crop is straightforward, and it is easy to identify the leaf effects of different diseases. Thus, it is the application of a simple calculation taking into account that the total loss is the sum of all the lost leaf area and the answer about which contributed the most will be given by the largest area lost by a given disease. If the problem is the direct attack on production, with the expression of the disease in the final product (fruit, seed, consumable vegetative part), then it is basically a direct count and convert to percentage at the end. anyway, I don't think the answer should take into account which is the most impactful disease, as there is a risk of imagining that one should fight one disease at the expense of the others that are occurring, otherwise a secondary disease will pass. to occupy the primary niche and continue or amplify the damage. The ideal is to focus on the total loss of the sum of diseases for its treatment. Hope this helps.

I see, it's difficult to separate the yield losses caused any of the two pathogens affect the one plant in order to calculate them easily.
