I want to prepare 450k M.Wt. PAA solution with pH 7.5. I used shear mixer for the preparation. I added 15g PAA powder and 75g deionized water finally I added LiOH solution to neutralize pH. pH shoots up to 12 or 13 even if a very small amount of LiOH is added to the mixture. Again I had to add the mixture (PAA, water) to reduce the pH, this time the pH went back as low as 5. Is there any easy method to find out the exact amount of LiOH needed for maintaining the pH of the mixture at 7.5?
You could try a diluted or weak acid instead of water, or possibly preprepare a buffer. Time consuming but may help.
