Dear Colleagues,

These days I am working on broad and deep research regarding the potential consequences of a future Palestinian state. It looks as though many are deeply concerned with the efforts that should be made in order to reach an agreement and resolve the protracted conflict. However, very few are concerned about the day after. What is going to be the nature of the Palestinian state and how viable and stable might it be? I believe that all players should think about it in advance and facilitate the political process by assisting the Palestinian system to assure that the future Palestinian state will not become a failed state.

In my research I deal with the phenomenon of a failed state from the theoretical point of view, analyzing the current reality in the Middle East (three years after the Arab Upheaval) and then turning to an analysis of the current situation in the Palestinian arena, trying to focus of the relevant indicators in order to map and characterize the weaknesses and potential risks. I will conclude with an analysis of the international involvement since the beginning of the Oslo process, concentrating on the last decade, and recommend the required efforts and strategies in order to minimize the risks and increase success.

Any ideas, comments, and contribution are most welcome.
