I have a question, I want to start FePc deposition using MBE system but I have a dilemma. I purchased powder FePc from Sigma Aldrich. I should press it as a pellet, or I can introduce powder in the effusion cell?
You must manufacture a pellet with good compacting ratio, to have enough mechanical stability in vacuum .
With other Phthalocyanines we introduced them as simple powder into the crucible and were careful in the positioning of the evaporator etc. What about trapped air etc in the pellet can there be a problem with this?
Having an expected porosity of 15-25%, with opened and communicating pores, the pellet is stable and easy empted of air , in the vacuum condition. However, the high internal surface can be a problem – it will degas till the first deep heating by the electron beam.
