Unfortunately, by trying to get on their Coursera curse, https://www.coursera.org/learn/burgos-deciphering-secrets-medieval-spain/home/welcome I could see, from the very beginning, how information was oriented the same old Catholic way, but with modern informatics tools and on-line teachings: presenting a map where Castilla was suppose to occupy half Spain ( when all Christian kingdoms together just represent 10% of Spain), with no date indication. I just renounced to that course. Too bad.
The expansion of the source base and the emergence of new research methods allow us to review many of the findings of previous science. However, humanitarian science is quite conservative and does not easily abandon established assessments and points of view.
Dear Andrey Skorobogatov , that's precisely why this scholar research is so ambitious. It's time to use all those marvelous tools to analyze what we've been taught. Error is human, but once spotted, the continuation of the error turns ideology.
Once again, it was the re lecture and publishing of past sources -mainly orchestrated by Aldus Manutius the Elder end Erasmus in Venice-, thanks to the new printing tools, that propelled knowledge and thus Renaissance in Italian nations and then Europe. Maybe we're about to live a new Renaissance.
