Environmental pollutants and hazardous are major issues through which the modern world. Among all the environmental pollutants and hazardous materials how much contribution is from chemists (out of 100%) lets put rough estimate.
I think you mean to say the amount of emission by pharma sector. There is no study available but pharma industry is one of the major contributor of pollution. Pharma market is 28 per cent smaller yet 13 per cent more polluting than the automotive sector

Sufian...the chemical pollution is not restricted to pharmaceuticals as Malik has just said. Much has been published regarding the variety of chemical hazardous materials. The contribution of chemicals may a main category. There are some chemicals that can not be degraded and may stand for a long time as active pollutants. Being a chemist, myself, I do not want to defend chemicals. I only want to mention the microbial contamination as the major pollutants because biological toxicants grow in quantity with time. Chemicals may be continuously diluted and perhaps degraded . ...regards
Pollutants are divided into two categories: First- natural pollutants:
Natural pollutants are generally caused by a) Desert storms and dust b) Smoke and ash from forest fires c) Volcanic activity d) Meteors etc.
The pollutants released in this way should not be underestimated in any way! Especially now that the forest fires are intensifying and the Amazon forests are being destroyed
Second- Artificial source pollutants:
carbon monoxide
Sulfur oxides
Nitrogen oxides
Photochemical oxidants
Hydrocarbons
Particles
radioactive material
However, the greenhouse effects, the activity of factories, especially manufacturing and pharmaceutical factories, the overactivity of cars, the pollutants from agricultural activities have increased sharply and are destroying the ozone layer and the north and south poles.
But not all of these activities can be attributed to humans
Unfortunately, nature is destroying itself! If there were no technology or humanity on the planet, these effects would still occur for a longer period of time
In my opinion, chemists, no matter how much they have played a role in creating pollutants; They have also been active in removing pollutants
I think maybe 20% of the current problems are the fault of chemists, but do not forget that 99% of these problems will be solved by chemists and not by other scientists.
there is no comprehensive documented information from the ministry of environments or environmental agencies, what i know is that chemicals can be from various sources and can pollute the environment in various ways. i believe the largest part of pollution comes from chemicals from various human activities
