I am working on digital classification and Agroforestry species suitability at Farm level in Indian region. could any one please suggest best model for Species distribution Modeling? where id id availabe? and what data will be required for the best species suitability at farm level scale at Bunds or inside the field. is there any method to find the crop- plant interaction.

Agroforestry species distribution modelling is don not think much studied though region specific agroforestry survey or classification will be available. CAFRI, Jhansi will be suitable place to get information as they are having the AICRP on agroforestry and national level institute for AF meta data compilation. You can also seek individual scientist help Dr. Rizvi at CAFRI, some forest species distribtion modelling done by FSI, Dehradun, IRS, Dehradun.

I think that there is no 'best model'. Several SDM methods can be used, and several softwares are available. in some way, it will depend in the species of crop that you mix. Using one or other optimal distance for the crop, consider that in many forestry species you may plant in a short distance within line (i.e. 1/3) of the distance between lines and still the canopies may rich a full cover in 3-4 years for a fast forestry growth species.
