The different zeolite are use for different applications. Zeolite Y is mainly used for FCC of petroleum product. I think zeolite A and X are best suitable for removal of heavy metal.

The natural zeolite clinoptilolite is the most cited to take in heavy metals, and there are many reasons , it is cheap and readily available in high purity .Unlike synthetic zeolites,A,X,Y, clinoptilolite is the zeolite of choice for use in waste water streams, because the synthetics when used in a column quick degrade(even when they have been pelletised),I have published many papers in this area.

The use of clinoptilolite columns to remediate nuclear waste has been in use scavenge Cs and Sr before discharge to the Irish Sea from the SIXEP Sellafield plant of BNFL. This plant has been running for over 30yrs.I was sent a booklet with full details of the Chem.Eng and running of plant

Algerian Mineral clays known as Maghenitite have attracted great interest because of their low cost, mesoporous morphology and abundance in Algeria nature. These clays were used in different applications as adsorpiton of heavy metals, in heterogeneous catalysis, in photocatalysis,...etc@

NaY zeolites are proven ion exchange materials where Na+ cations are not fixed rigidly to the hydrated aluminosilicate structure and are readily exchanged with other cations in aqueous solutions. Zeolites are a suitable choice as they have a large cation exchange capacity and an affinity for heavy metals. I have published many papers in this area.

What make the presence of K2O (Poash) in kaolin causes difficulties in produce NaY zeolite. Please kindly assist

Zeolite Y has an intermediate Si/Al ratio which allows better removal efficiency than zeolite A and X (which have a low Si/Al ratio) when the heavy metal solution is acidic.

FAU family Zeolite Y can be prepared from waste material which helps to increase metal exchange capacity.

Apart from the difference in their Si,/Al ratio, they have different pore sizes that make them unique to their applications.
