Hello! How can I calculate the active radiation pattern of an element in cst using the unit cell ? Is there a template in postprocessing with this characteristic?
Just to be clear, you cannot use the unit cell method to calculate this. The method described by Shrivastav a.k. is good and does not use the unit cell.
However, I disagree that the UC cannot be used to calculate the active element pattern. In the CST presentations, this pattern is called the active pattern. However, if we follow Hansen's terminology, this is the scan element pattern, including the element's scan impedance, mismatch effects, and surface waves. It can be obtained in the infinitely large antenna array approximation using the UC. But you propose to use a full-size antenna array for evaluation, which is problematic at the stage of optimization of the antenna element.
I am attaching a screenshot taken from the CST presentation. The question was whether there is an option in the program's postprocessing to obtain such a diagram- scan element pattern of the infinite antenna array.
