We have analyzed changes in sea level in time in the Odessa Bay of the Black Sea according to satellite altimetry data and in Odessa according to coastal observations. It turned out that there is no complete match. In addition, sometimes there is no coincidence even of trends. In the period 2004-2005, according to the level measurement at the coastal point, a downward trend in the level was recorded, and according to the satellite altimeter, a trend in the level increase was recorded. The charts are attached. We believe that during this period there was an uplift of the level gauge (uplift of the land and the seabed). What do you think?

your query goes beyond my sphere of knowledge, but last week I saw that mangroves in the area adjoining the Gulf of Carpentaria in Australia were dying out en masse. The reason given is that sea levels have dropped and desiccated the mangrove swamps. The trouble is that it negates the predicted rises in sea level due to global warming. It is possible that the area in question is undergoing isostatic uplift, though I doubt it. Is it possible that isostasy is involved?

Maybe you're right. It's easy to check. If the mangrove trees have become closer to the shore, then the water has receded.
I am not an expert, but mangrove forests are interesting to me. I have observed them in the Sinai Peninsula and on the African coast of Egypt.
On the Sinai Peninsula in the Ras Muhamed nature reserve, I saw that mangroves grow on a tectonic fault. Slide "Sinai" attached. Fresh underground water comes out through the faults. These waters usually contain beneficial minerals. A few years later, in the Safaga region (Egypt), we measured temperature and salinity near a mangrove tree. Slide "Safaga" attached. The water turned out to be less salty and contained a lot of nitrates (fertilizers). Maybe the groundwater regime has changed in your area? 12 years ago, I published a monogram "Interaction in the lithosphere-hydrosphere system" on the submarine discharge of groundwater.

A suggestion or more to help evaluate. Your horizontal and verticle axis do not agree in size. Some software enables plotting two y axes if you want to retain the values. The time of the day is also important when comparing readings due to lunar tidal and as well barometric pressure effects with time. If the study has no defined geodetic or elevation reference points, perhaps a professional surveyor could help or a geologist if active geologic elevation shifts have occurred (seismic). If there was much shifting, perhaps structural or road damages have been noted that could help confirm your suspicions. I would assume ground and water levels more accurate when measured on earth, and not from satellite. For water levels with an unvented transducer, the barometric adjustment is typically with a nearby barometer. Can the satellite pick up the fine detail of pressure and associated water level changes? Are the ground readings carefully paired to satellite readings?

You correctly noticed the dependence of coastal level measurements on geodynamics. Indeed, during the geodynamic activity in Odessa (Ukraine), we recorded breaks in water and gas networks.
