Hi there. I want to get some parameters such as E (Young's Modulus), G and Poisson Ratio of Ceramics Tablets (92% Alumina). I want to know how can i obtain them with which accessible methods?
the appropriate method depends on the size and shape of your specimen.
1 The "classical" method is an instrumented bending test, however to correctly determine the elastic modulus you must measure the deflection properly, and you must prepare bars with rectangular shape.
2 for relativele thin plates and disks (r/d > 5) the acoustic method as proposed by Yves is suitable.
3 for small specimen instrumented microindentation can be used, calculates the modulus from the slope of the unloading curve.
