I am stuck in a strange problem. Please see the file attached and will deeply value your insights.
My excel file appears neat. See the first slide of the ppt attached. However, when I transfer the data to SPSS and SmartPLS3, I get errors. Please see slides 2 to 4 for understanding the specific nature of the problem.
What can be the cause and how can I go about solving it?

It appears that the problem has to do with importing the string variables (names). Are you importing directly from an excel file (*.xls; *.xlxs) or from a comma-delimited file (*.csv) saved from excel (or some other format)?
SPSS 25 does a good job of importing directly from the excel version of such a file, even without using quotation marks for string variables that contain a blank (e.g., BORIS SPASSKY), or when you accidentally omit a quotation mark (e.g., "BORIS SPASSKY). If you're importing from a csv file, then be sure to turn off the default variable separator of "blank".

Thank you David for your insights. I have manually cleaned the data in SPSS file and now it is working fine, including the import to SmartPLS 3.
I am using SPSS 18 version and it may have limitations. Thank you for your response and the wishes.

1)After importing data into Excel, save it and close Excel.
2) Open SPSS and click Data, open the File menu, on the top menu of the File Editor window.
3) In the section called Files of Type, select Excel. Excel files have .xls extension. Find the file containing your data. Click on it to appear in the File Name field.
4) Click the Open key. The page appears as the Opening Excel Data Source. Make sure a tick is in the Read Variable Names box from the first row of Data.
Click ok.
