Hi, I think you have an exprimental study. If you want to compare the level of two different groups, I think it will be better to run t-test. If you vant to compare the two different variable (reflective teaching and journal writing ) in one study group then you can carry out pearson correlation cofficient. In this case the type of assesment tool is becoming important. If you give more detail about your scales it will be easy to decide.

I think you determined the level of reflection by observation or some other assessment tools. If these scales were run in the same time period and the data was collected by the same scales you can run chi square for comparing the frequencies of two groups.
