I would like to have a correct interpretation of the situation where two confidence intervals instances CI(X,Sx) and CI(Y,Sy) are overlapping. Sx and Sy refer to two samples sets of X and Y respectively. |Sx| and |Sy| may not be equal.

Notice that we are working with "instances" of CI and not with its analytical parameterized form.

Example: CI(X, Sx) = [1, 5] and CI(Y, Sy) = [4, 7]. The intersection is I = [4, 5].
