3D Image processing and object recognition based on Lidar image?

First of all, I have been working on Lidar based data with ArcGIS and QGIS - the fundamental difference between ArcGIS and QGIS as you may already know is the cost! QGIS is for free which has goods and bads. Here some first impressions (you can find more on youtube):
