In the midst of this new and accelerating industrial trend, are we giving due consideration to changes in OHS imperatives?
This is a good research question to deploy an empirical research. I would suggest a survey in oder to obtain answers from practitioners involved on Industry 4.0 initiatives.

I am researching OHS in Industry 4.0 for my PhD project in Occupational Health and Safety at Univ. of Porto-Portugal- PROJECT: MULTICRITERARY SEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF EMERGING OCCUPATIONAL RISKS IN THE INDUSTRY PLANT 4.0.After researching and reading more than 200 articles, I have verified the same as you: in academic circles, matter is always associated with INFORMATICA and never with the Health and Safety of the workers. First, thanks for introducing me to the term Industry 4.0 and thanks to Julian for the paper explaining that Industry 4.0 = Industrial internet of Things.
Now to address your question, in my opinion, I don't think it is a cause for major concern, but rather a huge opportunity to integrate safety into the business infrastructure. Too many times in today's businesses, safety or OHS is still seen as either a bolt-on activity required by Regulations or simply as a cost of doing business.
With the Industry 4.0 model, companies are no longer just focusing on ROI or the bottom line. Companies promote their efforts in documents like a Corporate Citizenship Report that informs others of their efforts to improve both the company and society by focusing on factors like ROI, environmental/sustainability and social improvements.
Perhaps companies will realize that changes in the way they do business must also include incorporating OHS into their business model.

Então devemos APONTAR para as empresas que a OHS é um dos fatores de negócio delas, com relaçao a sua imagem no Mercado, Além do mais para cada minuto de máquina parada, dependendo do porte da industria, são milhares de US$ deixados de ganhar, pois hoje, já possuem todas as ferramentas para que não ocorram mais estas perdas financeiras.
